Meditation for Thyroid Disorder

Curve Curve

Thyroid disorders are very common and tend to occur in women. Having an overactive or underactive thyroid disrupts your metabolism and causing harmful problems. Beeja meditation helps settle the metabolism and regulate the thyroid, making it an effective natural treatment for thyroid disorder.

  • The Problem

There are large numbers of people in the world suffering from abnormally functioning thyroids. Some have thyroids that are overactive (hyperthyroidism), and many have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism).

If there is too much thyroid hormone in the body, every bodily process tends to speed up. This often results in anxiety, nervousness, irritability, excessive perspiration, shaky hands, thinning skin and thinning hair.

  • How it affects you

The aspect of the nervous system which catalyses the stress response becomes overactive, and there are chronically high levels of adrenaline in the system, leading to racing hearts, palpitations and a generally more adrenalised approach to life.

When there is too little, we tend to put on a lot of weight and feel very sluggish. In most cases, the thyroid gland has become damaged, and the usual response from doctors is to prescribe a hormone replacement medication (called Thyroxin).

It may help to manage the thyroid hormone levels, but ultimately, it won’t address the causes of the damaged gland and often has harmful and unwanted side effects. An effective treatment for thyroid disorder is hard to come by.

  • How can Beeja help?

When it comes to overcoming thyroid disorders, there is a better way. When we meditate, our metabolic rate settles down to a level whereby fundamental systems in the body can rebalance.

If our metabolic rate has been too high, it will normalise to a much healthier level and our sympathetic nervous system, the catalyst of the stress response, is very much calmed by the meditation.

If our metabolic rate has been too low, then it too will normalise during activity. While we meditate, the thyroid gland will be able to slowly but surely repair itself and, taken in conjunction with certain mineral-rich foods, we stand a much better chance of attaining a happy, healthy and sustainable outcome.

Having overcome hypothyroidism himself through meditation and diet, Will is very keen to further research into this area. So if you are a medical practitioner who is interested in studying alternative ways of overcoming the condition, we would be delighted to participate in any studies in this area.
