Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. There are around 100,000 sufferers in the UK, with 3 times as many women than men. Nobody knows for sure what causes it, and once you have it, it’s there for life. However there are things you can do to help manage the symptoms and Beeja meditation is one of the most effective natural treatments out there.

  • The problem

    MS is a serious autoimmune condition, in which the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move think and feel.

    Nobody knows for certain what causes MS, but it’s thought that genetics, lifestyle and your environment all play a part. 

    Stress also plays a big role; it increasing the chances of any genetic predisposition occuring, and also aggravates the chronic pain, fatigue and depression that so often accompany MS.

  • How it affects you

    If we take a look at how the central nervous system works, we can start to understand MS.

    The nerve fibres in the central nervous system are protected by a substance called myelin. This helps the free flow of mind-body communication. 

    But in MS, your immune system mistakenly identifies myelin as a dangerous foreign body and starts attacking it. The myelin becomes damaged, and detached from the nerve fibres, causing scars called lesions or plaques. 

    The damage disrupts and distorts the messages running along the nerve fibres. They slow down, get jumbled up, and sometimes fail to reach their destination completely. 

    Sometimes the nerve fibres themselves get damaged too. And it’s this nerve damage that create cause the most problems by increasing disability over time. 

  • How can Beeja help?

    Beeja meditation dramatically reduces our stress and anxiety levels, reducing our chances of developing this condition and alleviating the strain caused by the trials of life between episodes of acute symptoms. It also helps in every area affected by MS.

    First and foremost, Beeja meditation has an incredibly powerful effect on the central nervous system.

    It brings it into complete harmony and allows it to communicate more effectively with all of the nerve cells around the body, by using all of the resources it has available. If nothing else, this helps compensate for some of the damaged cells.

    Our cellular repair systems are also greatly enhanced, giving the body more opportunity to rebuild and restore damaged cells.  It may even enhance the process of neurogenesis (the creation of neurons).

    Meditation provides sustenance to the immune system and allows the body’s innate and learned immuno-intelligence to kick in as nature intended.

    Beeja meditation also has a marked impact on our cognitive functioning, with improvements in many areas of memory, learning and intelligence, allowing us to be more capable in spite of our condition.

    In our very first case of teaching someone with this condition, they reported that they had “much more energy, felt much more positive and had much more flexibility in my limbs, it’s wonderful!”. This was within just a few short days.
