Meditation for Irregular Cycles
Stress can play a significant role in disrupting menstrual cycle regularity and cause hormonal imbalances. With a more calm and centred mind the effects of stress can be kept under control, allowing for more normalised pituitary gland function and oestrogen production.

The problem
Irregular periods aren’t necessarily anything worry about; it’s normal to fluctuate by a few days each month. But they could be a sign that your body is under too much stress. And if you are trying for a baby, it can make things tricky as ovulation is far less predictable.
There are also underlying conditions which could be the cause so it’s always worth consulting your doctor.

How it affects you
When we’re stressed - whether physically or mentally - periods can become erratic or stop completely.
A crucial hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) becomes inhibited, and the normal hormonal cascade that keeps our reproductive order in rhythm is disrupted.
In every stressful episode we undersecrete vital hormones and the pituitary gland starts releasing prolactin which suppresses our reproductive system. As a result of all this, our estrogen production falls.
The follicular phase of the cycle before ovulation becomes longer, and ovulation itself may become less regular.
One massive stress test can upset our rhythm, but intermittent stress - even pretty mild - can be enough to throw us off course.
Eventually the whole system may begin to shut down. Generally if you miss more than 3 cycles and are not pregnant, you will have developed what’s known as anovulatory amenorrhea.

How can Beeja help?
Meditation using our personalised mantra technique massively reduces stress levels, and how we respond to stressful triggers. Our nervous system and our brain functioning becomes much more finely tuned.
With time, irregular periods return to their natural rythmic state and our hormones rebalance.
This is helpful on all levels.
We know periods aren’t fun, but they are a key mechanism for getting rid of the toxins we produce each month. A regular cycle is not only a good indicator of our reproductive health, but also our general health and well-being.
