Meditation for Impotence

Curve Curve

Impotence is the inability to sustain a male erection. Although it’s very common in older men, it can be a very stressful and embarrassing condition. Meditation helps in two vital ways; by tackling the underlying stress which may be causing the erectile issues, and also helping to relieve performance anxiety.

  • The problem

According to The Journal of Sexual Medicine around 40% of men suffer from erectile dysfunction or impotence, at least occasionally.

Erectile dysfunction is often symptomatic of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hormonal imbalance, neurological imbalance, or is a side effect of medications or drug abuse.

There can also be psychological roots to the problem, usually bound up in relationship issues, performance anxiety and low self-confidence.

If the impotency is a consequence of surgical procedures, then even meditation may not be able to bring back full function, although it will make the experience of erectile dysfunction much easier to bear.

Smoking is also a major causal factor due to its narrowing of arteries.

The other culprit is stress, which is so often part of coping with all the above, but is itself a major causal factor. Over half of impotence cases are simply as a result of too much stress. We know the cause isn’t physical because during the REM phase of sleep erections occur.

  • How it affects you

Stress works on two levels in the experience of impotence. Firstly, it reduces our interest in sexual behaviour. Secondly, it affects our ability to perform; whenever there is an onset of any stress, the hormonal response blocks the release of a neurotransmitter (LHRH) which is key to a healthy and balanced level of testosterone, one of the keys to our virility.

The other key is ‘parasympathetic tone’. To feel arousal, we need a certain level of parasympathetic tone in the nervous system to help stimulate blood flow, and this usually arises when we’re feeling relaxed. If we’re not relaxed, it will be much harder for the cascade of physiological processes which mediate the erectile response to get going.

  • How can Beeja help?

The good news is - the nourishing effects of meditation can significantly offset all of the elements which may be contributing to the problem.

Meditation for impotence not only helps in tackling the underlying stress and causes which may be causing the erectile issues, it also greatly helps to relieve performance anxiety.

For smokers, Beeja helps by stimulating dilation of the arteries. An unexpected consequence of Beeja is that often they find they are much more motivated to quit once they start meditation too.

“I’ve been experiencing stress for a long time now, and in the last year, I was really having problems with my performance in the bedroom. But within two weeks of learning, my old drive started coming back, and I’ve conquered my performance issues, and my confidence has also returned, and I now feel like a young stallion again!”

“Getting an erection to work properly is so incredibly complicated physiologically that if men ever actually had to understand it, none of us would be here.”
