Meditation for Autoimmune Disorders

Curve Curve

If you have an autoimmune disease, your immune system gets confused, and instead of attacking cells which may harm your body, it starts killing off healthy cells instead. Autoimmune diseases affect many parts of the body, and nobody is exactly sure why. We do know that stress can play a role and often makes things worse. Beeja can help by reducing stress and rebuilding your immune system.

  • The problem

Autoimmune disorders occur when the immune system starts randomly treating healthy parts of the body as infectious agents and attacks them. This response creates havoc and can cause huge damage to vital organs and tissues.

Stress is considered to be the most reliable factor in worsening autoimmune disease - particularly with multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Grave’s disease, ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease.

  • How it affects you

When we’re stressed, our innate immune system becomes activated, which causes a panicked ‘action stations’ response. We produce surplus immune cells, and inflammatory cells are put on red alert for deployment to any affected area (or perceived affected area).

When our immune system is chronically activated under the stress response, it seems a maladaptive pattern develops whereby the immune system starts to target normal body cells as dangerous invaders and subsequently attack.

Often, the treatment of choice is to pump us full of steroids that suppress the immune system. This can reduce symptoms, but also creates a weakened immune system and makes us more vulnerable to getting ill in other ways. w

Steroids also carry the risk of serious side effects, such as ageing the hippocampal area of the brain and impairing our memory.

  • How can Beeja help?

Meditation works at the causes of the issue, and is a natural way of building your immune system.

Firstly, Beeja meditation will help you manage the stress response so that your immune system becomes less hyperactive, and therefore symptoms alleviate.

Secondly, the powerful restorative effects of Beeja meditation bring harmony to all the systems of the mind, body, and nervous system, allowing your body the chance to reset and rebuilding your immune system back up.

It allows the immune cells to take a more discerning view of potential pathogens. During meditation our levels of rest are so deep that our brain is able to rewire itself to provide more balanced and adaptive responsiveness.
